On April 22, 2024 Facebook removed all 3rd party apps in groups. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to add your Facebook group as a destination to your StreamYard account, and stream directly to it. Don’t worry, there are still other ways to live stream to your Group.
Stream to a Facebook Page or Profile
One workaround is to stream to your Facebook Page or Profile, and share this stream into your group directly on Facebook!
- Add your Facebook Page/Profile as a destination to your StreamYard account.
-
Create a live stream to your Page/Profile, and choose the Schedule for later option to create an event on Facebook.
- Navigate to the event on your Facebook Page/Profile by clicking the three dots next to the broadcast, and clicking View on Facebook.
- Click the share button on the event, and click Share to a group.
- Choose the group you would like to share the stream to.
- Click Post to post the stream into the group!
Connect to an already created stream in the Group
You can use our Custom RTMP feature to connect StreamYard to an already existing event created in your group. (When using this feature you will not be able to receive comments or a live viewer count from Facebook in your StreamYard studio).
Create the Event in your Facebook Group
- Navigate to your group on Facebook, and access the Events tab.
- Click Create event.
- Title and choose a date for your event. Under "Is it in person, or virtual?" Make sure to choose Virtual -> Facebook Live. Click Create event when finished.
Connect the Event to StreamYard
- After creating the event, click Set up live video.
- Under Select a video source. Choose Streaming software.
- Scroll down to Streaming software setup to find your Stream key. Enable Persistent stream key so the stream key remains the same for future events. Click Advanced settings to find your Server URL.
- If you'd like the stream to start automatically at the scheduled time on Facebook, enable Go live automatically at scheduled start time. If you do not enable this, you'll need to manually click go live on the Facebook event (see step 9).
- Head back over to your StreamYard destinations tab, and click Add a Destination -> Custom RTMP.
- Copy and paste the Stream URL and Key from Facebook into the corresponding spots in StreamYard. Nickname your RTMP destination if you like, then click Add RTMP Server when finished.
- Now, when you create a live stream, you can choose the RTMP destination, and stream to your event in your group!
- Enter your studio, and click Go live in the upper right hand corner to begin streaming to the Facebook Event.
-
After going live in StreamYard, head back over to your Facebook tab and click Go Live in the Facebook Live Producer as well. You need to click Go live in both places to begin the live stream to the group. If you have Go live automatically at scheduled start time enabled (see step 4), you can skip this step.
Create a private live stream using StreamYard On-Air
If you were looking to do a stream to a private group, you can use our very own webinar platform StreamYard On-Air! Easily share the "Watch" link for your webinar into your group so your viewers can access it. You also have the option to enable registration to collect emails, and other registrant info!
- Create an On-Air webinar.
- Click Share with viewers. Click Copy to copy your watch link for your webinar. You can post this link directly into your Facebook Group so your group members can access and view the webinar!
- Click Edit next to the privacy setting to navigate to your On-Air settings, and choose your stream privacy.
- Here, you can choose your privacy setting for your webinar. In order to view a private webinar, registrants will need to retrieve a 6 digit access code sent to their email address. This ensures heightened privacy for your webinar and prevents link sharing.

Stream to an Unlisted YouTube Stream
By setting up an unlisted stream to your YouTube channel, only those with the link will be able to watch the stream. It will not appear publicly on your channel. You can share this link to your Facebook group.
- Add your YouTube channel as a destination to your StreamYard account.
-
Create a live stream to your channel. Under Privacy choose Unlisted. Then, select the Schedule for later option.
- Click the three dots to the right of your scheduled stream, and click View on YouTube to navigate to the stream on YouTube's end.
- Copy the link from the address bar to post into your Facebook Group!
