Sharing Google Slides with StreamYard

StreamYard now has built-in support for sharing slides! See here for more information.

If you'd still like to screen-share Google Slides, here's how:

  1. Open up your Google Slides presentation in a new tab or browser window. A new browser window would be easiest, as you can have StreamYard and Google Slides side by side
  2. Open StreamYard, enter/create your broadcast studio, click Present at the bottom, then click Share Screen.
  3. Under Chrome Tab choose “Presentation name - Google Slides”
  4. In Google Slides, click Slideshow in the top right.

  7. To control the presentation, click into the Google Slides slide show window, and use the spacebar/arrow keys/click to move to the next slide as normal

Pro tip: If your Google Slides presentation has audio, you can share that by using Chrome, selecting Chrome Tab when sharing, and enabling Share audio

Sharing Google Slides with StreamYard (Workaround)

If you're unable to connect your Google Slides to StreamYard due to technical issues or a temporary bug, there is a simple workaround you can follow:

  1. Download the Google Slides file:

    • Open your Google Drive and locate the Slides presentation you want to share.
    • Click on File > Download and select one of the below:
      • Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)—if you have PowerPoint installed
      • PDF Document (.pdf).
  2. Upload the file to StreamYard:
Once you’ve downloaded the file, you can upload it directly into StreamYard:

    • In your StreamYard studio, click on Present > Slides > Your computer.
    • Locate the downloaded file on your computer, select it, and click Open.
  3. Present the file:
The downloaded file will now be uploaded and available for presentation within StreamYard.

By using this method, you can continue your presentation even if you're experiencing connection issues with your Google account.
