StreamYard Onboarding — Quick Guide

Welcome to the StreamYard family! We know that getting started with live streaming or recording can feel daunting—but we’ll guide you through it.

StreamYard is a live video production and recording tool in your browser. No downloads required—just a computer with a mic and camera.

Checklist

1. Connect Your Destinations
Note: If permissions break later, try Reconnect or Remove and re-add the destination. (Custom RTMP can’t be “reconnected” — edit/remove instead.) Learn how.
2. Create Your First Studio
  • Create → Live stream → Studio (even if you’ll only record). Create a Live Stream
  • Set quality:  (aim for 1080p; ≥ 5 Mbps upload; prefer ethernet). 1080p guide
  • Branding pass: Upload Logo / Overlays / Backgrounds; add Background Music for intermissions. Background Music · Assets
  • Slides without screen share: Upload decks/PDFs directly. Sharing Slides

Tip: Setting 1080p in one Studio becomes the default for future Studios on the same team/account.

3. Record Like a Pro
4. Invite Guests
  • Share the Invite link and send Guest Instructions (mic/cam permissions, headphones, ethernet). Guest Instructions
  • Guest multistreaming: Guest Destinations lets each guest add up to 2 of their own (paid plans). Guest Destinations
5. Tech Check
  • Audio:  → pick mic/speakers; set Echo Cancellation / Stereo per use case. Improve Audio
  • Firewall/VPN: Allow StreamYard domains/ports or test off the firewall. Firewall/Proxy
6. Go Live or Use Pre-Recorded
  • Go Live now or Schedule from the Studio. Create a Live Stream
  • Pre-Recorded Streaming: Upload MP4/MOV (H.264/AAC), schedule to “air” as live. Check limits (size/length/bitrate). Pre-Recorded Streaming
  • Custom RTMP: Stream anywhere, but no scheduling/chat import/viewer count. Custom RTMP
7. Webinars with On-Air (optional)
8. After the Show
  • Locate recordings (Library / Past Broadcasts). Troubleshoot “can’t find.” Find my recordings
  • Export project files or download synced tracks for your editor. Export Projects
