Sharing Slides and Presentations [Built-in Feature]
StreamYard now has built-in support for sharing presentations and slides! You can upload and share presentations and PDFs directly from StreamYard without having to screen-share another app.
HERE'S HOW:
1. From inside the StreamYard studio, click Present at the bottom of the studio, then Slides.
2. From here, you can see your previously uploaded slides, as well as options to import from Google Slides, or upload files from your computer.
3. To import a Google Slides presentation, choose Google Slides, sign in to your Google account, allow StreamYard access to Slides, choose the presentation you'd like to import, and click Select.
Or, to upload a presentation from your computer, choose Your computer, and select the file from your device.
4. After processing, your presentation will appear backstage in the studio, underneath the main window. Click Add to stage on it to add it to the stage and show it on screen.
5. You can control your presentation using the controls on-screen.
Or, in the small preview in the backstage section of the studio:
* FAQs
WHO CAN USE SLIDESHARE?
Admins, creators, cohosts, and guests can all share slides. If guests share a slide, both the host and the guest can advance through the slides. However, if team members (admins, creators, cohosts) share a slide, only they can control it.
HOW MANY PRESENTATIONS CAN I UPLOAD?
Up to 20 presentations can be saved to StreamYard at a time. Guests can upload 2 presentations at a time without creating an account.
HOW MANY PRESENTATIONS CAN I HAVE PRE-LOADED BACKSTAGE AT A TIME?
You can have up to 10 presentations ready backstage at a time.
HOW LARGE CAN MY PRESENTATION FILES BE?
The max size for uploaded presentations is currently 50MB.
HOW LONG CAN MY PRESENTATION BE?
An uploaded PowerPoint or PDF file can be a maximum of 200 slides long. A Google Slides presentation can be a maximum of 100 slides long.
WHAT FILE TYPES ARE SUPPORTED?
Most PowerPoint and Impress files are supported, as well as PDFs. (Keynote files should be converted to .pdf first https://support.apple.com/HT202220.) You can upload the following file types: .pptx, .ppt, .pps, .ppsx, .odp, .pdf.
WHY IS MY GOOGLE SLIDESHOW NOT APPEARING?
If you uploaded this PowerPoint into Google Slides, it may still be in a .pptx format. To select it, click File—Save as Google Slides to convert it to a Google Slideshow.
ARE ANIMATIONS/AUDIO/VIDEO SUPPORTED?
Animations, audio, and video in presentations are not currently supported. For the best video experience, we recommend sharing a video optimized for your viewers/destinations.
Need to share a presentation with animations/audio/video? You can screen-share PowerPoint or Google Slides!
Media presentations do not persist after exiting the studio.
While scenes and some media assets can be configured in advance, media presentations do not persist after exiting the studio. You will need to re-upload any media presentations for future broadcasts.
HOW DO I SCREEN-SHARE A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION?
If your presentation includes animations, audio, or video — or if you prefer full control over your slides — you can screen-share PowerPoint instead of using the built-in slides feature:
1. Open your PowerPoint presentation. Go to Slide Show and click From Beginning (or From Current Slide to start from a specific slide).
2. If using multiple monitors, disable "Use Presenter View" in the Slide Show tab to ensure the slideshow appears on only one screen. You can select which monitor it displays on from the Monitor dropdown.
3. Your PowerPoint should now be in full-screen mode. To switch between windows, press Alt + Tab on your keyboard (you may need to press Tab multiple times to find your browser window).
4. In StreamYard, click Present → Share Screen, then select your PowerPoint window from the list.
5. Click Add to stage if the screen share isn't already added.
6. To advance slides, press Alt + Tab back to PowerPoint and use the spacebar, arrow keys, or mouse click as usual.
📍 Tip: If you're on a single monitor, the built-in slides feature (described above) is often easier, as it avoids the need to switch between windows. For sharing Google Slides via screen share, see this article.
