YouTube Monetization Settings

StreamYard lets eligible creators adjust YouTube Live ad settings while setting up a broadcast. This makes it easy to choose an ad frequency for your YouTube live stream without switching to YouTube Studio.

What this feature does

When you select YouTube as a destination, StreamYard shows a YouTube Live Ads dropdown so you can choose the ad frequency for that live stream.

How to change YouTube Live ad settings in StreamYard

  1. In the StreamYard studio, select YouTube as a destination.

  2. In the destination settings (the expanded destination pop-up), find YouTube Live Ads.

  3. Choose your ad frequency:

    • Conservative (fewer ads)

    • Balanced

    • Aggressive (more ads)

  4. Continue setting up your stream and go live as usual.

📍 Available on all StreamYard plans.

💡
  • If you enable monetization when creating a broadcast, but you're not eligible for it on YouTube, it will fail silently.
  • If you change the monetization on YouTube, then the value you see within your Studio goes out of sync.

Requirements

To use this feature:

  • Your YouTube channel must be eligible for monetization (YouTube Partner Program - YPP).

  • You must select YouTube as a destination for your stream.

What is YouTube monetization?

YouTube monetization is how creators earn money from their content through YouTube’s monetization features. This can include revenue sharing from ads and YouTube Premium, and (depending on eligibility and region) features like memberships and Supers. Monetization is managed through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

How to get monetized on YouTube

StreamYard can show and apply live ad settings only if your channel is eligible. To set up monetization:

  1. Open YouTube Studio.

  2. Go to the Earn section to check eligibility and apply to the YouTube Partner Program.

  3. Follow YouTube’s steps (this may include linking an AdSense for YouTube account for payouts).

  4. Once approved, enable monetization features in YouTube Studio.

FAQ

Does this replace YouTube Studio monetization settings?

No. This lets you select YouTube Live ad frequency during setup in StreamYard. Monetization eligibility, program enrollment, and most monetization settings are still managed in YouTube Studio.

I don’t see the “YouTube Live Ads” dropdown

This usually means:
- Your channel isn’t eligible for monetization, or
- You haven’t selected YouTube as a destination for this stream.
