Windows Camera/Mic Access

On Windows, your browser (or all apps) may lose access to your camera or microphone. We've outlined how you can fix it below.

Windows 10

  1. Open the Start menu by clicking the start button, then search "settings". Next, click on Settings.

  2. Click Privacy.

  3. On the left sidebar, click Camera.

  4. At the top of the page, make sure that under Allow access to the camera on this device, it says "Camera access for this device is on".
    If it does not, click Change, and change the switch to On.

  5. Under "Allow apps access to your camera", make sure the switch is set to On.

  6. Scroll down. Under "Allow desktop apps to access your camera", make sure the switch is set to On.

  7. On the left sidebar, click Microphone.

  8. Repeat steps 4-6 for your microphone settings.

Windows 11

  1. Open the Start menu by clicking the start button, then search "settings" and click on Settings.

  2. On the left sidebar, click Privacy & Security.

  3. Scroll down, and under App permissions, click Camera.

  4. Make sure Camera access is On.

  5. Make sure Let apps access your camera is On.

  6. Go back by clicking the back arrow at the top left of settings.
    Scroll down, and under App permissions, click Microphone.

  7. Repeat steps 4-5 for the microphone settings.
